Unlike Roman chamomile, which has a very bitter taste, German chamomile has a mild flavor. Perfect after a meal, this infusion brings well-being and inner peace. The drink also provides pleasant warmth during winter evenings or rainy days. Combined with another flower, such as rose, organic chamomile infusion soothes and relaxes both young and old.
Once prized for its sleep-promoting action, chamomile flower (matricaria recutita) blends well with many sedative plants such as linden, verbena, or lemon balm. Far from this reductive image, plain chamomile infusion has many other benefits.
Besides its known benefits for sleep, German chamomile infusion also relieves difficult digestion. Consumed after meals, unlike Roman chamomile, matricaria recutita tea has stomachic, carminative, and antispasmodic properties that free up the digestive system.
The oils in organic chamomile flowers also contain chamazulene, a molecule effective against respiratory infections and colds. In herbalism, products made from German chamomile flowers are used to relieve menstrual problems. The use of German chamomile, plain or with complementary products, also finds followers for skin and hair care.
German chamomile flowers are delicate. The herbal tea is obtained by steeping the whole flowers in hot water. After 5 to 10 minutes, you can enjoy a quality product whose flavors and properties have been preserved. German chamomile tea is usually enjoyed hot but can be drunk cold like iced teas.
The taste of German chamomile is delicate. To ensure a quality herbal tea, we recommend using 13 to 18 grams of dried flowers per liter of water. When more diluted, organic chamomile loses the benefits of the oil contained in its flowers and its taste becomes bland.
To obtain a quality organic chamomile tea, the product should be steeped at a temperature of 100°C. This way, the herbal plant preserves its benefits. Hotter water would denature the essential oil of the flowers.
Ideal for digestion, organic German chamomile is mainly enjoyed after meals. On its own, this herbal tea also has relaxing properties for sleep. The product can therefore be consumed during the day or in the evening.
In loose form, our organic chamomile consists of beautiful flowers. Unlike "single-dose" bags where plants are reduced to powder, this packaging preserves whole flowers, their benefits, and their flavor. The loose-leaf package also allows you to enjoy an excellent value for money.
100% sourced from controlled organic agriculture, the chamomile flowers in our infusions come from a rigorous selection of matricaria recutita only. At Thés & Traditions, shipping of your teas, herbal teas, and infusions is free for orders over 45 euros. You can choose between home delivery and pickup point delivery.
