In a nutshell: a smooth, indulgent fig and melon Oolong, steeped for 2 to 4 minutes at 80°C (12 to 15 g/L), perfect to enjoy at any time of day.

This fig and melon Oolong is one of our most indulgent creations. A semi-oxidised Oolong from China, lifted by the sweet softness of fig and the juicy fragrance of melon.

Julien Huot blended this tea for those who love fruity infusions without overwhelming sweetness. The Oolong leaf retains its natural roundness, while the fruit wraps around it without masking it. Browse our selection to explore our Oolong teas and continue the journey.

The aromatic profile of our fig and melon Oolong

The moment you open the pouch, the scent is immediately inviting. Fig takes the lead, underscored by a note of ripe melon, fresh and gently sweet.

On the palate, the Oolong base (81% of the blend) brings its silky, subtly woody texture. The date pieces, coated in rice flour to prevent clumping, melt into the cup and lend a honeyed roundness. Physalis adds a welcome touch of tartness that brightens the whole.

Vivid orange marigold flowers are scattered through the leaves and give the blend its visual signature. The liquor pours a beautiful clear amber, luminous and warm, wonderful to share in a large glass teapot.

Ingredients: China Oolong, date, natural flavouring, physalis, fig (2%) and marigold flowers. A straightforward recipe where every component plays its aromatic role, with nothing superfluous.

How to brew fig and melon Oolong

Use 12 to 15 g of leaves per litre of water, roughly one heaped teaspoon per cup. Heat the water to 80°C: never boiling, as water that is too hot will dull the Oolong's delicacy and overwhelm the fruit.

Steep for 2 to 4 minutes depending on the strength you prefer. A shorter steep highlights the melon and bright fruitiness; a longer one draws out more of the leaf's depth and the honeyed date note.

This Oolong holds up to two or three successive steeps, each revealing a different facet: the first very fruity, the second more woody, the third all quiet delicacy. A glass or porcelain teapot is ideal for watching the leaves unfurl and enjoying the marigold flowers as they bloom.

For an iced version, double the quantity, cold-steep in the fridge for 6 to 8 hours, then strain. The result is a naturally refreshing drink, perfect for summer. For more brewing tips, visit our guide on how to brew Oolong tea.

Storage

Keep this tea in its original container, tightly sealed, away from light, moisture and strong odours. A dry cupboard, well away from spices and coffee, is all you need to preserve the aromas for several months after opening.
