At a glance: Organic Mao Feng white tea from Vietnam, hand-picked downy young buds. Brew at 70-80 °C for 1.5 to 2 minutes, 12 to 15 g/L. A pale, clear liquor with fresh, velvety notes.

The Vietnam Mao Feng white tea belongs to the distinguished family of white teas, rare and carefully crafted with minimal intervention. It is composed almost entirely of long, slender young buds covered in a fine silver down, picked by hand at their most delicate.

In recent years, Vietnam has established itself as a terroir of real distinction for this style of white tea. Our house selected this cru for its purity, its refinement, and the distinctive character it brings to our collection. Browse the full range: our selection of white teas.

The Aromatic Profile of Vietnam Mao Feng

The cup reveals a very pale liquor, almost crystalline, turning lightly amber after a few minutes. The nose is fresh and vegetal, lifted by a subtle floral sweetness reminiscent of white honey and acacia blossom.

On the palate, the opening is tender, almost silky. The first notes evoke fresh almond and cut hay, followed by a more floral heart with a light musky quality. The finish is long, clean, and entirely free of astringency.

This is a tea of exceptional delicacy, worlds away from the boldness of a robust black tea. Its minimal production process, a gentle wither followed by a soft drying, preserves the full aromatic purity of the spring-harvested buds.

How to Brew Mao Feng White Tea

Mao Feng calls for cooler water to reveal its full finesse. Water that is too hot will scorch the delicate buds and mask the floral notes that make this tea so special.

  • Temperature: 70 to 80 °C (bring water to a gentle simmer, then rest off the heat for 2-3 minutes)
  • Quantity: 12 to 15 g per litre, roughly 2 heaped teaspoons
  • Steeping time: 1 minute 30 to 2 minutes, no longer
  • Water: filtered or low-mineral, to let the tea's delicacy shine through

A porcelain or glass teapot works best, keeping the flavour neutral and unaltered. The leaves can be re-steeped twice, extending the time slightly with each infusion. For more guidance, visit our guide on how to brew white tea.

Enjoy this Mao Feng late in the morning or through the afternoon: its fresh, vegetal character makes it a perfect companion for quiet, unhurried moments, when time seems to slow around a warm cup.

Storage

Packaged in our workshop, this organic white tea keeps best in its original sealed tin, away from light, moisture and strong odours. Stored away from spices and coffee, it will retain its full freshness for 18 to 24 months.
